Course Information
Saturday July 7th: “Roman Bath and Prehistoric Stonehenge”.
Students travel to Bath and visit the Roman Baths Museum and can literally walk where the Romans walked nearly 2000 years ago. After lunch, students go on to visit the prehistoric Stonehenge site.
Wednesday July 11th: "Hampton Court"
Hampton court dates from the 15th century and was rebuilt in the early 16th century by Cardinal Wolsey and King Henry VIII. Students have the opportunity to spend the day exploring this magnificent example of a late medieval palace.
Saturday July 14th: "Cambridge University" (4-week course only)
Students travel by coach to Cambridge and spend the day exploring the colleges and medieval city.
Saturday July 21st: “Ancient and Medieval England”.
Students travel by coach into the beautiful Cotswold countryside and first visit Chedworth Roman Villa, situated near Cirencester, where they can explore the remains of a typical late-Roman villa and admire the mosaics. The next stop on the itinerary is the 13th century Cistercian abbey at Hailes where they can discover what life in a monastery was like in medieval England. Finally, at Bourton-on-the-Water - they can explore a typical Cotswold village and relax with a traditional English cream tea!
Wednesday July 25th:
Students travel to London by coach. The first stop on the itinerary is London's famous Borough Market - an extravaganza of gourmet food. The tour then proceeds to Southwark Cathedral, the reconstructed Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, and then can then take a quick look at Sir Francis Drake's warship, The Golden Hind, before visiting the world-renowned Tate museum of international and contemporary art. Students then cross the Millenium footbridge over the Thames and can explore St Paul's cathedral and Whispering Gallery.
